2013-14 Season Preview
Latricia Lovings is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the entire nation after closing the 2012-13 season No. 3 in the NCAA in blocked shots. With an ever improving offensive game, Lovings could push for all-conference accolades this next season. She has improved every year she has been on campus and will only get better in her final year as a Horned Frog.
2012-13 (JUNIOR)
Lovings simply dominated on the defensive end of the court during 2012-13 ... She finished the year ranked No. 3 in the NCAA in blocked shots, averaging 3.63 blocks per contest ... Also ranked 84th in the NCAA in rebounds per game with an average of 9.0 ... Lovings ranked second in the Big 12 in blocked shots with 3.6 and was one of just four players to rank in the top 10 in the Big 12 in rebounding and top 5 in blocked shots ... She had more blocks this season than in her first two years combined with 109 and moved into No. 2 all-time in TCU history in blocked shots ... Overall, she had five double-digit scoring games this season, making eight for her career and posted nine multi-rebound games ... Added eight games of five or more blocks during the 2012-13 campaign ... Lovings finished the season ranked No. 7 in the Big 12 in rebounding, while also ranking No. 6 in offensive and defensive rebounding, respectively ... 2011-12 (SOPHOMORE)
Lovings, who ranked No. 25 in the NCAA in blocked shots on the season, had a breakout sophomore season as she moved all the way into No. 3 all-time in career blocked shots with now 89 blocks ... Posted the fifth-best single-season total in school history in blocked shots with 68 on the year ... Recorded the second-most blocks in a single-game of any player during conference play with six against UNLV on Jan. 18 ... Posted 5+ rebounds and 3+ blocks in five out of the 14 conference games, including 11 games of two or more blocks and three contests of four or more swats during that stretch ... TCU's leading rebounder overall and in conference play, Lovings led the Frogs on the glass in six of the 14 MW games, including a game of 11 against Air Force in which she had eight defensive boards ... Lovings helped the Frogs rank first in the Mountain West in blocks and No. 9 in the NCAA ... She closed the year ranked No. 1 in blocked shots in conference play with 34 blocks ... She ranked in the top-10 in the Mountain West in field goal percentage (No. 1), rebounding (No. 9) and blocks (No. 1) through 14 games ... Lovings had a career-game against UTSA, scoring a previous career-high of 10 points, while also blocking four blocks for a second-straight game ... Lovings saw action in 23 games during the 2010-11 season ... Saw her first action of her career against Sam Houston State, recording 12 minutes ... Scored a career-high eight points at Air Force and against Texas Southern ... Posted three blocks in a single-game against both BYU and Utah, respectively ... Led TCU in blocked shots with 21 on the season ... Ranked No. 9 in the conference in blocks during conference play ... Played in every conference game, recording 16 blocks overall ... Posted double-digit minutes in 16 games.
HIGH SCHOOL LaTricia Lovings arrives at TCU from Paschal High School, which is located only blocks away from the TCU campus ... ranked as the nation's No. 17 post player prior to her senior year by ESPN HoopGurlz, as well as the 10th-best senior in the state of Texas ... named Second-Team All-District 3-5A in 2009 ... earned three letters playing basketball for Paschall before electing to not participate for the Panthers during her senior season ... in addition to her basketball prowess, was also a standout on the volleyball court, having earned First-Team All-District 3-5A honors as a junior ... played club ball for the Fort Worth Frogs for four years under coach Jim Parker ... played with current TCU teammates Delisa Gross and Meagan Henson with the Fort Worth Frogs.
