NCAA CHAMPS | Life Skills Program AASO Main Page

The NCAA Champs/Life Skills Programwas created by the NCAA as a total development program for student athletes. The mission of the NCAA is to maintain intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the campus educational program and the student-athlete as an integral part of the student body. CHAMPS focuses on five areas of development: academic excellence, athletic excellence, personal development, career development and commitment to service.

With this in mind, the TCU program has embraced the mission of the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Program and has developed services and programs that are focused on enhancing the quality of the student-athlete experience within the university setting. Specifically, our program is aimed at addressing the student-athlete as a "whole person," not just a student or an athlete.

Our Life Skills Coordinator arranges opportunities for growth in each of the five development areas. There are many opportunities throughout the academic year for every athlete to become involved in each aspect of CHAMPS. Volunteer opportunities are encouraged during each semester as well as personal development and career development opportunities. At TCU, we strive to determine the current needs and demands of our student athletes, and then equip them to handle those demands with confidence.
