FORT WORTH – A group of 50 current and former Horned Frog student-athletes received TCU diplomas Saturday during Spring Commencement exercises at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
The spring 2011 group was highlighted by a number of individuals who either have already concluded or are still compiling accomplished careers as TCU student-athletes. Fifteen Frogs who have earned All-Mountain West Conference honors at least once in their careers were included, as well as three All-Americans in Ashley Aikmen (equestrian), Tom Hoge (men’s golf), and Christy Hudson (volleyball).
Men’s swimmer Kyle Callens (nine), women’s tennis player Katariina Tuohimaa (eight) and men’s tennis player Emanuel Brighiu (seven) owned the most All-MWC accolades among the spring graduates. Emily Carter was a two-time first-team All-MWC selection for the women’s basketball team.
Also among the group were several academic standouts, including women’s golfer Melissa Loh, TCU’s 2011 Dutch Meyer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a Phi Beta Kappa member, and men’s tennis player Cameron Nash, also a Phi Beta Kappa member.
The football team led all TCU programs with 10 graduates, including 2011 All-MWC Second Team selection Jason Teague. The women’s equestrian team boasted seven graduates. Fifteen programs saw at least one student-athlete receive a diploma.
