Men's tennis to compete at South Central Regional Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team will compete at the ITA South Central Regional Men's Tennis Championship in Austin, Texas, beginning on Saturday, Oct. 20 thru Tuesday, Oct. 23.
Fifteen teams from the region will be represented at the tournament, including Baylor, Centenary, Lamar, Prairie View A&M, Rice, SMU, Southeastern Louisiana, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas-Arlington, Texas-Pan American, Texas-San Antonio and Texas Tech.
The tournament will consist of a 128-player singles main draw and a 64-team doubles main draw. First-round losers will enter the singles consolation draw.
Kriegler Brink, Caleb Bulls, Zach Nichols, Alex Panayides, Casey Powers and Adrian Simon will all compete in the singles main draw beginning on Saturday. Panayides and Simon have received first-round byes and will begin action in the round of 64.
Three TCU doubles teams will begin play in the round of 32 on Saturday morning. Brink, who is ranked No. 22 nationally with partner Cosmin Cotet, will team up with Panayides to face the top-seeded team of Kutrovsky and Zavala of Texas. TCU newcomers Nichols and Simon will team up in the doubles draw, as well as Bulls and Powers.
The Frogs are coming off of a successful showing at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships, which saw Cotet defeat the nation's No. 2 player and advance to the singles main draw's round of 16. Cotet and Brink also reached the doubles quarterfinals. Collectively, the Frogs have already defeated six opponents that are currently ranked in the preseason singles poll.
