Cotet moves to within one match of main draw at Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships
Oct. 3, 2006 Tulsa, Oklahoma - Cosmin Cotet won his fifth consecutive singles match on Tuesday against Clancy Shields of Boise State 6-4, 6-3 in the singles qualifying bracket, to move within one game of the Championship's main draw. Cotet will face David North of Georgia Tech on Wednesday.
"I've been really pleased with the play of Cotet," said men's tennis head coach Dave Borelli. "He was tired since this was his fifth match, so I was happy with how he still found a way to win."
Cotet also participated in the doubles qualifying bracket with senior Radu Barbu, where the pair defeated Marquette's Binkley and Rutherford 8-5, before falling in the second round to McNaughton and Van't Hof of USC 9-7.
In other first round doubles action for TCU, the duo of Kriegler Brink and Chris Biro was defeated by Old Dominion's Igarashi and Seleznev 8-6, while TCU's Andrew Ulrich and Stuart Row fell to Christian and Lock of Northwestern 8-5.
