FORT WORTH, Texas - Cosmin Cotet defeated Michael Venus on Wednesday in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(3), at the USA S-22 Futures Tournament in Claremont, California. With the win, Cotet, a junior from Silvestru, Romania, advanced to the round of 16, where he will play the No. 2 seed in the tournament, and one of ATP's Top-100 ranked players in the world.

The Futures Tournament had a qualifying draw of 128 players, and started with a round of 32. Cotet will return to action today in the second match, the first of the day beginning at 1 p.m.
