FT. WORTH, Texas - TCU men's tennis head coach Joey Rivé announced today the signing of Australian standout Lachlan Reed to a National Letter of Intent. Reed, one of Australia's top junior players, will begin playing for the Horned Frogs as a freshman in the fall.

"I am very excited that Lachlan is going to join the Horned Frog family," Rivé said. "He is going to be an outstanding addition. Lachlan is a lefty and very talented...we expect him to come in and make an immediate impact."

Reed has maintained considerably high Australian Junior and Junior World (ITF) rankings during the last four years. In 2005, he claimed the Adelaide ITF doubles title and won the Malaysian ITF doubles championship. Reed was crowed champion of the 2005 Darwin ITF U/18 Tournament and was the 2004 Australian High School champion. Additionally, he won the 2003 Australian U/14 Hardcourt championship.

Considered an outstanding student in the classroom, Reed is the son of Julie and Tony. He is one of three children; brother Ben is 22 and sister Sophia is 16.

"Lachlan's SAT scores were great," Rivé said, "and I know TCU thinks very highly of him academically. He is the type of student-athlete that you want representing this institution and I project a bright future for him at TCU."
