Cotet named MWC Co-Player of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU senior men's tennis player Cosmin Cotet was named the Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Year on Wednesday, while three Horned Frogs earned all-conference singles honors.
Cotet, a native of Iasi, Romania, posted an overall mark of 19-6 this spring and a record of 5-1 in conference play at the top position. Cotet went 23-8 overall in 2007-08, and defeated 10 ranked opponents.
Emanu Brighiu, Kriegler Brink and Cotet all earned spots on the All-MWC Singles Team, tying with New Mexico for the most selections in the league.
Brighiu, a freshman from Iasi, Romania, is 10-9 overall in his first collegiate season, and posted a 5-1 mark in conference play this spring. Brighiu secured a crucial win at the No. 2 position against New Mexico to help TCU clinch a share of the MWC regular season title.
Brink has put together a memorable season, registering a 21-2 dual-match record and a 5-1 conference mark at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions. The TCU junior has posted a 30-6 overall singles mark this season, which ranks second all-time at TCU for single-season winning percentage (.833).
Brink and Cotet were also named to the All-MWC Doubles Team for the second consecutive year. The Frog duo went 14-6 this spring and 3-1 in league play at the top spot.
TCU will open play at the MWC Championships on Thursday at 2 p.m. against the winner of the match between No. 4 UNLV and No. 5 BYU.
