FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU men's tennis team will enter the 2005 Conference USA Championship as the No. 2 seed. The University of Louisville is hosting the event over April 21-24 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville, Ky. TCU faces the winner of No. 8-seeded Southern Miss and No. 9-seeded Charlotte Friday, April 22, at 10 a.m. CDT. The Horned Frogs are currently ranked No. 49 in the country with a record of 7-13. TCU won two of its final three regular-season matches to SMU and Colorado. In February, the Frogs won the C-USA Shootout for a fourth consecutive year by downing Memphis and Louisville. TCU played one of the toughest schedules in school history and suffered 11 straight losses at one point. Seven of those 11 defeats came to teams currently ranked among the top 10 in the country. Individually, TCU has been led by senior Fabrizio Sestini, who is currently ranked No. 31 in the country in singles. Sestini is the highest ranked player in the league, posting three wins against players ranked in the top 10 at the time of the match. He is also listed at No. 11 in doubles with junior Rafael Abreu, making them the highest rated duo in C-USA. TCU has not won a conference championship since claiming the 2001 Western Athletic Conference title. The Frogs finished runner-up to Tulane the past two years and took a fourth place finish in 2002. Overall, TCU has won 10 conference tournament titles in men's tennis (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001).
