COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU sophomore Andrei Mlendea was named Mountain West Conference Tennis Player of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday. Hailing from Oradea, Romania, Mlendea is ranked 64th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) polls.

Mlendea knocked off eight-ranked Jerry Makowski 6-3, 7-6 (4) in No. 1 singles as the No. 32 Horned Frogs defeated No. 22 Texas A&M on March 22. The sophomore standout also ousted Baylor's fourth-ranked Lars Poerschke 6-4, 6-2 on March 7.

The Frogs, ranked 23rd overall in the latest ITA poll, return to action when they host Wichita State at 2 p.m. and Abilene Christian at 6 p.m. as part of a Wednesday doubleheader.
