Senior Craig Stopa

March 28, 2006

FORT WORTH, Texas - Seniors Rafael Abreu, Jordan Freitas, Craig Stopa and Jacopo Tezza will be honored prior to the second match of a Wednesday afternoon twinbill at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Frogs are scheduled to host Wichita State at 2 and conclude the day with a showdown versus Abilene Christian slated for 6.

A co-captain for the Frogs, Abreu (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) is a fourth-year player and represents one-half of the 33rd-ranked doubles team in the ITA doubles poll when paired with Freitas.

Freitas (Eastbourne, England) came to TCU in the spring of 2004 after helping head coach John Peterson to his third consecutive National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championship at Tyler Junior College and grabbing back-to-back All-America honors (2003 and 2004).

A product of Verona, Italy, Tezza is coming off a thrilling 1-6, 6-3, (10-2) victory over Cal's Daniel Sebescen on Monday. Currently 10-1 on the season for singles play, Tezza won eight-straight matches to begin the 2006 season and garnered Mountain West Conference Player of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 27.

Stopa is a three-time ITA academic All-American and hails from New Orleans, La.

In its last match, TCU dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 26 California. The Frogs look to get back on track versus Wichita State and Abilene Christian whom they are a combined 10-3 versus.

Wichita State is coming off a 10th-place finish at the Boise Classic after falling to Georgia State 4-2. The Frogs are 4-3 all-time versus the Shockers. In the last meeting between the two institutions, TCU posted a 5-2 victory on March 20, 2003.

TCU is 6-0 all-time versus Abilene Christian. Ranked No. 13 in the NCAA Division II poll, the Wildcats and Frogs last met in a Feb. 24, 2000, matchup that saw the Frogs prevail 7-0.
