March 23, 2004 FORT WORTH, Texas Jacob Martin from 11th-ranked TCU (13-1) was tabbed Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The Barcelona, Spain, native is the fourth Horned Frog to grab the honor this year, tying Tulane for the most weekly accolades. Alex Menichini, Rafael Abreu and Jacopo Tezza are the other Frogs that have been honored. Martin went 2-0 in singles and doubles last week in a pair of victories against then-No. 31 Miami, 7-0, and then-No. 33 Boise State, 4-3. His week began with an 8-4 victory at three doubles with Menichini versus Eric Hechtman and John Hoyes II from the Hurricanes. Their win secured the doubles point. In singles, he was forced to move up two spots from his usual position at No. 6 and he managed to come away with a 7-6, 6-3 victory against Hoyes II. Martin and Menichini clinched the doubles point once again for TCU against the Broncos thanks to an 8-2 triumph at three over James Ludlow and Nils Klemann. Martin was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at six singles against Ludlow and gave the Frogs a 2-0 lead on Boise State.
Martin is 15-7 this season in singles and has won seven matches in a row. Martin is also 10-1 in dual matches and 9-0 at six singles. He and Menichini are still undefeated on the season with a 14-0 record and they are 13-0 at No. 3 doubles.
