FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team will continue the current homestand Friday, hosting Tulsa at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m.
The Horned Frogs (5-8) will look to bounce back after dropping back-to-back decisions against Texas and Columbia. Newcomer Nick Chappell paces the squad with an 8-3 singles ledger for the semester, followed by freshman Facundo Lugones with six wins.
Tulsa (7-7) is currently the No. 23 team in the country, according to the most recent Campbell’s/ITA College Team Rankings. The Golden Hurricane haven’t seen any action in the last 12 days, rolling into town after earning a 4-0 win against No. 30 Louisville on March 4. UT has three singles players listed in the top 100 in No. 68 Japie De Klerk, No. 75 Ashley Watling and No. 97 Clifford Marsland. Watling and Marsland have also teamed up to become the No. 5 doubles tandem in the nation.
TCU has a slight edge in the all-time series with Tulsa, owning a 10-8 ledger since the initial meeting in 1993. The Frogs claimed a 6-1 victory in the latest match played at the Friedman Tennis Center in 2010.
As always, admission is free to all TCU tennis matches and there will be free pizza, while supplies last, courtesy of Pizza Inn and Pie Five Pizza Company.
