FORT WORTH – Before a six-match homestand, TCU’s men’s tennis team travels to Arizona on Thursday for a 1 p.m. CDT match at the Wildcats’ LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs are 9-4 on the year and have won back-to-back matches over SMU and North Carolina. TCU, which has matched its win total from a year ago, jumped up to 36th in this week’s ITA team rankings. UA is 9-3 and ranked 54th.
TCU and Arizona are meeting for the fourth time in their history, with TCU holding a 2-1 advantage. The Frogs claimed a 5-2 win a year ago in Fort Worth in the first meeting between the schools since 1984. TCU has never played in Tucson.
Senior Orlando Superlano leads the Frogs with a 10-2 mark in singles this spring and has won eight of his last nine matches. Sophomore Arnau Dachs, TCU’s No. 2 singles player, is 9-3 during the spring and 20-5 overall.
In doubles, sophomores Nick Chappell and Will Stein have racked up an 8-3 mark, including a 4-3 record since moving to the No. 1 doubles position. Dachs and Superlano are 6-3 from their No. 3 doubles spot.
After Thursday’s match, TCU plays its next six matches at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
