FORT WORTH – The TCU men’s tennis team returns to action Saturday when it plays host to North Carolina at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
First serve is set for 1 p.m. with indoor or outdoor courts to be determined. The Horned Frogs, ranked 57th, are 8-4 on the year and claimed a 4-0 win over SMU in their last time out. The No. 44 Tar Heels are 7-4 and have dropped two-straight matches.
TCU and UNC are meeting for the 12th time overall and first time since 1999. The Frogs hold a 6-5 edge in the all-time series and have won the last three matchups, including a TCU 4-3 win on March 13, 1999. UNC holds a 2-1 edge in matchups in Fort Worth.
Senior Orlando Superlano has been TCU’s top performer in singles this spring, racking up a 9-2 record during the spring and 14-5 mark overall. Sophomore Arnau Dachs is ranked 108th and is 8-3 in the spring, 19-5 overall.
Sophomores Nick Chappell and Will Stein are 7-3 in doubles, including a 4-0 mark from the No. 2 position. Max Stevens and JT Sundling are 5-5, while Dachs and Superlano have amassed a 5-3 mark.
For the Tar Heels, Esben Hess-Olesen leads the way at No. 29 in the ITA singles rankings, while Nelson Vick (110) and Brett Clark (124) are also ranked. Neither TCU, nor UNC have any ranked doubles teams.
