TCU men's tennis grabs No. 23 spot in ITA polls

FORT WORTH, Texas - After starting the 2006 season 6-0 and defeating four higher-ranked opponents along the way, the TCU men's tennis team has been awarded the No. 23 ranking in this week's FILA Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings released on Tuesday.
TCU started the season by defeating then No. 36 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 5-2 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. At the time of the match, the Frogs garnered a preseason ranking of No. 50.
The following week, TCU moved up eight spots in the polls to No. 42 and advanced to No. 41 the week of Feb. 7.
With wins over then No. 23 Texas Tech on Feb. 17, and then No. 30 San Diego on Feb. 19, the Frogs moved to No. 32. TCU downed Texas Tech by a score of 6-1 and San Diego 4-1.
On Sunday, the Frogs posted the biggest win of the season to this point by knocking off No. 13 LSU 4-3. TCU started the weekend with a win over then No. 70 Denver.
TCU has little time to celebrate the new ranking as it returns to the courts today to take on No. 71 South Alabama. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
