Conference USA announced today that TCU's Alex Menichini has been chosen Men's Tennis Athlete of the week. He was joined by fellow Horned Frog Paty Aburto, who took home the accolade for the women. It marks the second time of the 2003-04 season that Menichini has been honored by the league, as he was tabbed Athlete of the Month last September.

Menichini, ranked 44th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, finished with a 2-0 record last week in singles and doubles. The Calabasas, Calif., native jump-started things by upsetting 21st-rated David Corrie of Texas-Arlington at one singles, 6-2, 6-2. Prior to the match, he registered an easy 8-2 win at three doubles with junior Jacob Martin. Menichini rolled over Marko Bundalo of Colorado, 6-4, 6-1, in the Frogs' next match at the top spot and he and Martin downed a pair from the Buffaloes by an 8-2 count at No. 3 doubles.
