TCU men's tennis returns to action

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 42 TCU men's tennis team returns to action Wednesday when it hosts UT-Arlington at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Frogs look to move to 2-0 on the season and 14-1 all-time versus the Mavericks.

TCU found success in its season opener, downing Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 5-2 on Jan. 28. The Frogs used a sweep in doubles competition and victories in four-of-six singles matches for the final tally.

Senior co-captain Jacopo Tezza finished his day with a pair of wins. The Verona, Italy, product paired with senior Rafael Abreu to notch an 8-4 win in doubles play over Andrey Kumantsov and Mikhail Pavlov. Tezza completed his afternoon with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Jose Zunino.

Junior Radu Barbu also began the 2006 season strong, posting a 6-1, 6-2 win in singles over Texas A&M-CC's Jan Cingel and joined sophomore Cosmin Cotet for an 8-1 doubles victory over Cingel and Sharon Henselijn.

The Wednesday night match will be the first played under the newly installed lights at the Friedman Tennis Center. Match time is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
