Men's Tennis completes opening day of Rice Invitational
Jan. 20, 2007 HOUSTON, Texas - Kriegler Brink and Mike Donovan highlighted play for the men's tennis team in the first day of action at the 10th Annual Rice University/Downtown Club at the Met Indoor Invitational on Friday.
Brink teamed up with newcomer Mike Donovan to defeat Clemson's duo of Alvarez and Bizjak 8-4 in the Flight B doubles round of 16. The tandem will face Anic and Krestski of Southern Miss in the Flight B quarterfinals at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Andrew Ulrich, Chris Biro and Caleb Bulls all recorded first-round victories in the Flight B singles round of 32. Ulrich defeated Jon Greenberg of Rice 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-1, while Biro defeated Clemson's Ike Bell in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. Bulls, a new addition to the TCU squad, outlasted Timo Kienle of Denver 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. All three Frogs fell in the singles round of 16.
