TCU senior men's tennis player Fabrizio Sestini was named the Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. Sestini earned at least a share of C-USA's Player of the Month award for September, October and November last fall. The Rome, Italy, native's most recent award ran his streak of honors from the conference in 2004-05 to four.

Sestini, who is the league's top ranked singles player at No. 34, opened the spring season with an upset over the nation's No. 2-ranked player, Ryler DeHeart from Illinois, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, at the Puerto Rico Invitational in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In addition to the 17th-ranked Horned Frogs, the event also included No. 5 Illinois, No. 28 California and No. 35 Georgia Tech. Sestini lost a tightly contested match to No. 25 Jose Muguruza from Georgia Tech, 7-5, 7-5, while in San Juan as well.

Next up on TCU's docket is the Rice Indoors over Jan. 21-23 in Houston. The Frogs' season and home opener for dual match competition is Jan. 28 versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1:30 p.m. CST. The contest will take place on the Bernard J. "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Tennis Courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
