Sestini Wins a Pair at Baylor Intercollegiate

WACO, Texas Senior Fabrizio Sestini from the TCU men's tennis team won a pair of matches Friday at the Baylor Intercollegiate to advance to the round of 16 in the Gold Singles draw. The nation's No. 73-ranked player downed Johan Kane-West from Tulane in his first match 7-5, 6-0 and snagged a 6-1, 6-4 win from Luigi D'Agord of Alabama in the next round. In other action, newcomer Jordan Freitas picked up a three-set win over Shaun Ellison of Louisiana-Lafayette in the first round of Gold Singles, as did Rafael Abreu against Texas-Arlington's Niels Buksik. Jacob Martin and Jacopo Tezza loss in the first round, while Freitas and Abreu exited the main draw in the second round. The Green Singles draw saw Craig Stopa and Andrew Ulrich both fall in the first round. Doubles proved to be TCU's forte of the day in Waco. The Frogs moved all four of their duos into the round of 16 for tomorrow, including the No. 8-ranked tandem of Abreu/Sestini. They were 8-6 winners against D'Agord and Eric Molnar from Alabama. In the backdraw of both singles brackets, Martin, Stopa, Tezza and Ulrich each won their matches to keep themselves alive in the tournament. Stopa advanced by virtue of an injury to his opponent. The match never began.
