TCU men's tennis soars past Air Force, 4-0
April 26, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The No. 68 TCU men's tennis team fought back extremely windy conditions on Thursday to roll to a 4-0 victory over Air Force at the AFA Outdoor Tennis Facility. The men will move on to the semifinals of the MWC Championship where they will face UNLV on Friday at 3 p.m. CT.
"It was a great effort today," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "The conditions were as bad as I've ever seen, but it didn't bother the guys. It's a good experience that will make them better."
The No. 43 ranked duo of Kriegler Brink and Cosmin Cotet led off doubles play with an 8-3 defeat of Air Force's Robby Alexander and Ryan White. The victory improved the tandem to 15-4 on the season.
Radu Barbu and Christopher Biro followed with an 8-5 victory over Brett Rodgers and Austin Francis at the No. 2 position to clinch the doubles point for TCU.
Stuart Row, a junior from Austin, Texas, put the Frogs up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Greg Ferry at the No. 6 slot.
Brink followed with a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of White at the No. 4 position, while No. 103 Cotet clinched the match for the Frogs as the junior defeated Alexander 6-1, 6-1.
