TCU Men's Tennis Advances to C-USA Championship Semifinals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 42-rated TCU men's tennis team advanced to the Conference USA Championship semifinal round Friday by upending Southern Miss, 4-0, at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville, Ky. The No. 2-seeded Horned Frogs improved to 8-13 and face third-seeded Louisville on Saturday at 8 a.m. CDT. The Golden Eagles fell to 13-9 with the loss. The Frogs had little trouble winning the doubles point. Jordan Freitas and Jacob Martin won first at two by an 8-1 count over Reid Bourgeois and Christopher Rea. Radu Barbu and Jacopo Tezza clinched the point with an 8-2 victory against David Canudas and Juan Garzon at the No. 3 position. The No. 14-ranked tandem of Rafael Abreu and Fabrizio Sestini from TCU was up 5-4 versus Marc-Oliver Lux and Dylan Mezey at the top slot. Sestini, rated 27th in singles, gave TCU a 2-0 advantage when he made short work of Canudas at the top slot by winning 6-3, 6-1. Freitas was a 7-6, 6-2 winner over Bourgeois on court five and Martin ousted Lux, 6-3, 6-1, to clinch the victory for the Frogs. #42 TCU (8-13) def.
