Frogs edge UNLV, 4-3

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team defeated UNLV 4-3 in a gutsy performance on Saturday night at the Friedman Tennis Center's indoor courts.
With the win, the Horned Frogs moved to 8-11 overall and 4-1 in Mountain West Conference action, while the Rebels dropped to 9-13 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.
"We found a way to win today," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "We competed very well, and every match from now on will be tough."
No. 109 Cotet led off singles play with a 6-4, 6-4 upset of No. 89 Wronski. The win was Cotet's fourth over a nationally ranked opponent.
Biro followed at the No. 2 position to put the Frogs up 3-0 with a 6-1, 7-6(3) win over Burrows. Biro has now won nine of his last 10 singles contests.
With the match score at 3-1, Barbu clinched the victory for TCU with a dramatic 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(3) win over Slavko Bijelica. The win was also Barbu's ninth in the last 10 contests, and sixth consecutive to put the senior's overall mark at 9-2.
"Radu played great today as he was able to come back and get the win," Borelli said. "With Radu in the lineup, we're 7-4 as a team, and that's been the difference."
TCU will honor its seniors tomorrow, as the Frogs will host No. 46 New Mexico at 2 p.m. in the last home match at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center this season. Live stats will be available at www.gofrogs.com.
