Horned Frogs Get Blanked by VCU in Men's Tennis, 5-0

RICHMOND, Va. -- After falling 4-0 to No. 13 Duke on Saturday, the No. 25 TCU men's tennis team (9-8) dropped its second consecutive match in as many days on Sunday when the 16th-ranked Rams of Virginia Commonwealth (17-4) handed the Frogs a 5-0 defeat at Thalhimer Tennis Center in Richmond, Virginia. The Rams swept all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. VCU's ninth-ranked team of Florian Marquardt and Pedro Nieto posted an 8-6 win at one doubles over freshmen Fabrizio Sestini and Daniel Scholten to clinch the point. Mats Norin and Marton Ott posted an 8-4 win at the two spot over TCU freshman Chris Brandi and sophomore Alex Menichini for the Rams' first victory. In the singles action, the Horned Frogs dropped four straight set matches at one, two, four and five singles to give VCU the 5-0 win. The Rams' victory was clinched by Daniel Casquero at four singles when he defeated Scholten 6-3, 6-4. The matches at three and six singles were suspended once VCU was assured the victory. TCU will now prepare for its match with No. 41 SMU this Wednesday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m. in Dallas, Texas. SMU defeated TCU 4-3 back on January 30 in the Horned Frogs' season-opener. Singles
