LAS VEGAS - The No. 31 TCU men's tennis team downed BYU by a score of 6-1 on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas. With the win, the Horned Frogs improved to 15-5 overall and 2-0 in Mountain West Conference play.

"The guys really played well today," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "I was really happy with everyone's focus and intensity."

The Frogs swept doubles play to jump out to the 1-0 lead. The 45th-ranked TCU duo of Kriegler Brink and Cosmin Cotet defeated Jonathan Sanchez and A.J. Young of BYU by a score of 8-1. At the No. 2 position, Emanu Brighiu and Adrian Simon downed Daniel Hwang and Thomas Shubert by a score of 8-4, while TCU's Zach Nichols and Jack Seider posted an 8-4 victory over Cassidy Mears and Evan Urbina.

Cotet, ranked No. 29 nationally in singles play, improved to 15-5 this season at the top position with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Sanchez. Brighiu, a native of Iasi, Romania, defeated Shubert by a score of 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.

Brink pushed his season record to an impressive 18-1 mark with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Mears at the No. 3 spot, while Simon returned to the win column with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Urbina at the No. 4 slot.

"I thought Adi played very well today," Borelli said. "We've really been working hard the past few days, and it was a good match for him to win."

Nichols added another TCU win at the No. 5 position, downing Hwang by a score of 6-4, 6-2. Nichols improved to 17-3 this season with Friday's victory.

The Frogs will look to remain unbeaten in MWC play on Saturday against UNLV at 12 p.m. CDT.
