March 27, 2007
FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 74 TCU men's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 33 Texas A&M on Tuesday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The loss snapped TCU's three-match winning streak.
With the loss, the Horned Frogs dropped to 4-9 on the season, while the Aggies improved to 11-5 overall.
"I thought we had a really good chance to win tonight, as we were in most of the matches," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "I'm a little disappointed, but they fought hard and competed, and we'll start winning soon. We're looking forward to starting conference play this weekend."
The Aggie duo of Conor Pollock and Matt Bain clinched the doubles point for Texas A&M with an 8-6 defeat of Andrew Ulrich and Radu Barbu, bringing the duo's four-match winning streak to a halt. The No. 23 duo of Kriegler Brink and Cosmin Cotet helped the Frogs avoid the sweep with an 8-7 defeat of Texas A&M's Brett Joelson and John Nallon. The win improved the tandem to 9-3 overall.
Christopher Biro evened the score at 1-1 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Brad Williams at the No. 2 singles position. With the Frogs down 3-1, Ulrich and Brink both fell in third set tiebreakers as the Aggies clinched the victory.
The Frogs will open conference play on Friday in San Diego, Calif., against Utah.
