TCU Men's Tennis Loses at No. 28 Florida State, 6-1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The 33rd-ranked TCU men's tennis team was dealt a 6-1 loss at No. 28 Florida State Sunday. It was the Horned Frogs sixth defeat in a row and dropped their record to 5-7 this spring. The Seminoles upped their season mark to 10-5. FSU swept the doubles, winning first at the No. 2 position where 42nd-rated Ytai Abougzir and Mat Cloer upended Jordan Freitas and Jacob Martin, 8-4. Sam Chang and Jonathas Sucupira provided the clincher by defeating Radu Barbu and Andrew Ulrich by an 8-5 score. The Seminoles' No. 60-ranked duo of Jeff Groslimond and Chris Westerhof beat No. 13 Rafael Abreu and Fabrizio Sestini, 8-6, to conclude doubles play. Westerhof was the first winner for the Noles in singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Freitas at the No. 4 position. Ulrich fell to Chip Webb at six singles, 6-2, 6-4, to make the score 3-0 in favor of Florida State. Cloer, ranked 83rd in singles, registered a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 triumph over No. 21 Sestini to give the Seminoles the win. The Horned Frogs were able to pick up their lone point at the fifth spot courtesy of Martin. He snapped a five-match skid with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 victory against Chang.
