Horned Frogs Record 6-1 Victory in Men's Tennis

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The 16th-ranked TCU men's tennis team improved to 3-0 Friday by posting a 6-1 decision over No. 59 BYU on the Bernard J. "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Tennis Courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The Horned Frogs are 3-0 all-time versus the Cougars. TCU made short work of BYU in doubles, sweeping all three positions. At one, the eighth-rated duo of Rafael Abreu and Fabrizio Sestini downed Jose Lechuga and Nima Roshan, 8-3, and Jordan Freitas and Jacopo Tezza scored a win at two over Dominik Kaufhold and James Ludlow by the same score to . Radu Barbu and Jacob Martin posted an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles against Shane LaPorte and Jonathan Sanchez. The Frogs continued to roll in singles. Their first victory came at the No. 4 hole from Martin, who defeated Christian Hand in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Sestini, ranked 34th in singles, was the next victor at the top slot by a 6-2, 6-3 score over Jeff Das. The clincher came from Abreu at No. 6 singles by scores of 7-5, 6-3 versus Sanchez. Roshan provided the sole victory for BYU at the No. 2 slot with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph against Tezza. Freitas registered his first singles victory of the season by rebounding from a 6-2 loss in the first set to win 6-4, 6-4 in the second and third frames at five singles. Barbu snagged the final TCU point at three, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, over Ludlow. The Pitesti, Romania, native actually trailed 4-1 in the third set before coming back to win.
