FORT WORTH, TEXAS (October 25, 2000)--On Saturday, October 21, the TCU Horned Frogs helped the city of Fort Worth in the 10th annual "Brush Up Cowtown" program. Four different athletics teams represented TCU,
including men's and women's swimming, men's and women's track, women's tennis and baseball.

In all, 110 of TCU's student-athletes participated in the event and helped fix up three different houses in east/northeast section of Fort Worth. The athletes helped with general repairs such as painting and caulking. They also planted a tree and cleaned up the yard at each location.

Richard Sybesma, head coach of the Horned Frogs swimming and diving teams, said the service project was wonderful for both his athletes and the house owner.

"What an awesome experience for the team," Sybesma said. "We had every kid participate and they were all excited to have a chance to help a local individual. She was overwhelmed at the opportunity and it gave every one of us a good feeling."
