Men and women Have Great Success in pool
Fort Worth, Texas -- The 2000-2001 TCU Swimming season
saw nine school records broken, four NCAA qualifiers, three diving NCAA zone
meet qualifiers, two WAC Swimmers of the Week, and an All-Academic Team
Award.
Qualifying for the NCAA's were Jamie MacCurdy in the 400 IM (4:21.39) and 200 backstroke (2:01.20), Jamie Robinson in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.43), Aaron Ewert in the 100 backstroke (:49.03), and Scott Adkins in the 200 breaststroke (2:01.20). On the women's side, seven school records fell. The 200 medley relay team of Marisa Schenke, Jamie Robinson, Heather Vance, and Kate Swearingen set a new mark with a time of 1:45.14. In the 400 medley relay, the mark of 3:49.89 was set by Schenke, Robinson, Vance, and Jamie MacCurdy. Individual marks were set in the 200 freestyle (Erin Irons; 1:52.35), 200 IM (MacCurdy; 2:03.92), 200 backstroke (MacCurdy; 2:01.20), 100 breaststroke (Robinson; 1:03.43), and the 200 breaststroke (Robinson; 2:17.89). Jamie MacCurdy and Jamie Robinson were honored as WAC swimmers of the week, and the women's team also received the All-Academic Team Award from the College Swimming Coaches Association. For the men, two school records were broken. Aaron Ewert is the new holder of the mark in both the 100 backstroke (:49.03) and the 200 backstroke (1:47.63). They also finished 4th at the National Independent Championships. On the diving boards, Codi McLamb, Lisa Munoz, and Chad Hummel qualified for NCAA Zone Meets. The NCAA Championships will be March 15-17 in Long Island, NY for the women, and March 22-24 in College Station, TX for the men.
