FORT WORTH, Texas - For the third time this season, a TCU men's swimming and diving meet came down to the last event. But, unlike the first two down-to-the-wire competitions, the Horned Frogs were able to take the final event and pull past Notre Dame for a thrilling 117-105 victory at Wilkerson Greines Pool. With the win, the Frogs pushed their overall record past .500 at 4-3.

Trailing 103-102 heading into the final race of the evening, TCU needed a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay to claim the come-from-behind win. The Frogs' team of David Tietze (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks/Drury Univ.), Dana Kizer (League City, Texas/Clear Creek), Jeff Parkinson (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) and Aaron Ewert (Dallas, Texas/Garland) did not disappoint, taking first place in 1:25.30.

Ewert, who has missed much of the fall season due to sickness, provided the Frogs with a much needed spark by contributing wins in each of his three events. Besides the 200 free relay, the senior helped TCU's 200 medley relay (1:34.75) to a first-place finish, as well as claiming the 50 free (:21.48) individually.

Freshman Kelly McCain (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll) continued his impressive first-year campaign, winning both diving competitions. He took the one-meter event with a score of 290.00 and tallied 299.25 to claim the three-meter title.

Sophomore Craig Chapman (San Antonio, Texas/Robert E. Lee) was the only other Horned Frog to earn an individual triumph, winning the 200-yard backstroke in 1:51.78.

"It is a huge win anytime you can knock off a highly regarded program such as Notre Dame," TCU head coach Richard Sybesma said. "But, to finally win a meet in the final event after the heartbreaking losses we've suffered so far this year makes it even more special for our kids."

The Horned Frogs will look for a weekend sweep when they face Notre Dame and Centenary Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The 6-1 women's team will also be in action Saturday afternoon versus Centenary. The competitions will take place at the Southlake Carroll ISD Pool.
