Jan. 23, 2003
DALLAS - Three different TCU men's swimmers claimed wins but it was not enough as the Horned Frogs dropped their regular-season finale to SMU 134-88 Thursday night at Perkins Natatorium. With the setback, the Frogs conclude the regular season with an 8-5 dual meet record.
Senior Jeff Parkinson (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill), junior Aaron McLachlan (Arvada, Colo./Pomona) and sophomore Craig Chapman (San Antonio, Texas/Robert E. Lee) each notched victories to lead the Frogs. Parkinson earned the victory in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.19. McLachlan followed with a win in the 200 IM (1:54.59), while Chapman rounded out TCU's triumphs by taking the 100 back in :50.76.
"Despite the loss, we competed well against a very talented SMU squad," TCU head coach Richard Sybesma said. "Hopefully we will carry the momentum from tonight's effort into the conference meet next month."
TCU will look to defend its Conference USA Men's Invitational title at the world-class Indiana University Natatorium, February 23-25 in Indianapolis.
