Rubinson in First After Two Rounds of All-America Classic
Nov. 25, 2002 EL PASO, Texas -- TCU senior Adam Rubinson shot a three-under-par 139 today to take the lead in the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic at El Paso Country Club. The prestigious field consists of 24 collegiate golfers, all of whom have received All-America accolades during their careers. The Fort Worth native scored an even-par 71 on the first 18 holes, then fired a three-under 68 in the second round to move into the top spot. Rubinson was named an Honorable Mention All-American in 2002 after finishing as the runner up at the NCAA Championships. He is a two-time all-conference performer and is currently the nation's 19th-rated golfer according to the Golfweek ratings system. This summer he had a runner-up finish at the 2002 Western Amateur. Brendon De Jonge (Virginia Tech), Dustin Bray (North Carolina) and John Holmes (Kentucky) finished the day three strokes behind Rubinson. Brock Mackenzie (Washington) had the lowest round today, as he shot 66 in the second round. Rubinson tees off at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the third and final round.
