TCU Men's Golf Inks Bichsel to National Letter of Intent
Nov. 14, 2007
TCU head men's golf coach Bill Montigel announced on Wednesday (Nov. 14) that Max Bichsel has inked a National Letter of Intent and will join the Horned Frogs for the 2008-09 campaign. "I can't explain how excited I am," said the newly-signed Frog. "For the past couple of months, I've just been incredibly happy to be going to TCU because it's a place that has a great combination of athletics and academics. In my opinion, the golf program is unmatched and to have the chance to play on their courses and in that weather is just a great opportunity for me." "We're really excited to have Max joining our men's golf program here at TCU. Max is a player that has a lot of upside, and I really believe that he can come in here and contribute to our program right from the beginning," added Montigel. The newly-inked Frog enjoyed an impressive career during his first three seasons at The Peddie School in Cranbury, N.J. where he helped his squad record a championship at the Garden State Cup after firing a team-best 73 over 18 holes. Bichsel also aided The Peddie School to a Mid-Atlantic Prep League Golf Championship during his sophomore campaign followed by a third-place finish in the league championships during his junior season. During his sophomore campaign, Bichsel dropped in a birdie putt on the 17th hole of competition to capture the individual championship at the NJISAA Prep "A" Golf championship en route to finishing with a two-under 70 while helping his team earn silver medal laurels. Bichsel recorded a tremendous resume on the American Junior Golf Championship circuit where he recorded a trio of top-15 finishes, including a pair of top-10 showings, in the final four tournaments of the summer schedule.
The newly-signed Frog finished second overall at the Fidelity Investments Junior Championship at Richter Park where he recorded a 54-hole tally of 214 (75-70-69) and also claimed a ninth-place finish at the AJGA Rhode Island Classic with a three-round score of 218 (74-74-70). Bichsel tied for 12th overall at the Burgett H. Mooney, Jr. Rome Classic with a 54-hole score of 214 (73-71-70).
Bichsel will be joining a TCU men's golf program that has recorded five conference championships in the last seven seasons and is coming off a tremendous fall schedule where the Frogs claimed a pair of top-five finishes, including the title at The MacDonald Cup. TCU Athletic Media Relations
