TCU Golf Tied For 12th Place After One Round at Carpet Capital

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - Following the first of three rounds, the TCU Horned Frogs reside in a share of 12th place among 18 of the nation's top teams at the Carpet Capital Collegiate. TCU posted an 18-over-par score of 306 at The Farm Golf Club (par 72, 7,010 yards) to sit 16 strokes behind first-round leader Georgia (290) and just seven behind third-place Georgia Tech.

Of the 18 schools, 12 are rated among the nation's top 25 according to the GCAA/Precept Coaches' Poll. No. 2 Georgia Tech, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Auburn, No. 5 New Mexico, No. 6 Florida, No. 10 TCU, No. 12 Southern California, No. 13 Tennessee, No. 15 Clemson, No. 20 Augusta State, No. 22 Duke and No. 24 South Carolina headline the strong field.

TCU junior Colby Beckstrom owned the Horned Frogs' best round of the day, as he recorded an even-par 72. After bogeys on two of his first three holes, Beckstrom played two-under-par the rest of the way. He is currently tied for seventh place individually heading into the second round.

J.J. Killeen carded a three-over 75, which has the senior tied for 23rd position among the 90 participants. He matched a team best with three birdies on the afternoon. Senior David Schultz is in a tie for 46th after an opening-round 78 (+6).

Playing in his first tournament of the year, sophomore Drew Stoltz scored an 81 (+9). He currently has a share of 73rd place. Two strokes behind Stoltz is junior Drew Laning, who is tied for 81st after an 83.
