ROCKY FACE, Ga. - The TCU men's golf team wraps up its fall schedule this weekend at the prestigious Carpet Capital Collegiate in Rocky Face, Ga. The 54-hole tournament, which is being played at The Farm Golf Club, will feature 18 holes Friday through Sunday.
Senior Drew Laning, who has led the Horned Frogs in three consecutive events this fall, headlines the team. He carries a team-best 72.93 stroke average over 12 rounds this season. Laning's fifth-place tie at the Ridges Intercollegiate was a career-best effort.
TCU's other upperclassman in the tournament is sophomore Franklin Corpening. The Fort Worth native is the only other Horned Frog to compete in all four events this year. He has a 73.42 stroke average and one top-10 finish.
A trio of talented freshmen (Jon McLean, Robby Ormand and Jesse Speirs) round out the five-person playing roster. McLean earned a career-best tie for 10th place at the Ridges in the team's most recent event. Ormand will be appearing in his third tourney as a Frog and is seeking his first top-20 finish. Speirs tied for 35th in his lone event of the year and had a team-best round of 70 to close the Ridges.
Among the 18-team field are the top two teams in the country--Georgia and Georgia Tech. The remainder of the teams are: Alabama, Auburn, Augusta State, Clemson, Duke, East Tennessee State, Florida, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, North Carolina State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Texas Tech and Vanderbilt.
Live scoring will be available on www.golfstat.com during Saturday and Sunday's rounds.
