Horned Frog Golfers Tied For Fourth at Gary Koch
Oct. 20, 2003 TAMPA, Fla. - The TCU Horned Frogs reside in a share of fourth place after the first two rounds of the Cleveland Golf/Gary Koch Intercollegiate at Old Memorial Golf Course in Tampa, Fla. With a six-under team total of 570, the sixth-rated Horned Frogs trail only fifth-ranked Georgia Tech (555), Arkansas (567) and No. 1 Florida (568). Senior Adam Meyer posted a pair of sub-70 scores on Monday, carding a 68 in round one and a 69 in the round two, to lead the way for TCU. The Waco native is in a share of fourth place individually with his seven-under-par score of 137. Meyer is just two strokes behind the tourney's leader, John Assey of the College of Charleston, heading into Tuesday's final round. Colby Beckstrom continued his outstanding fall play with a minus-four 140 on the first day. The sophomore recorded a team-best 66 (-6) in the morning round and then tallied a 74 (+2) in the afternoon 18. Beckstrom, who is tied for ninth overall, is seeking his third consecutive top-20 finish to start the season. Junior J.J. Killeen had rounds of 74 and 75 to claim a share of 48th place. Killeen's two-round sum of 149 is five-over-par. Sophomore Drew Pigg owns a 151 (+7) through 36 holes, which included a one-over 73 in the first round. Fellow sophomore Jeff Marcinowski, who is playing in his first collegiate event, is tied with Pigg for 61st place. Marcinowski fought back from an 80 in round one to post a one-under 71 on the second 18 holes. The Horned Frogs begin final-round play at 8:45 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday.
