BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 21st-ranked TCU men's golf team sits in 11th place through the first two rounds of play at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. The Horned Frogs posted scores of 290-291=581 (+13) at the Old Overton Golf Club (Par 71, 6,958 yards) and will wrap up play Tuesday morning.

Second-ranked Georgia Tech fired a 16-under-par 552 on Monday to take a 9-stroke lead over Georgia, the unanimous No. 1 team in the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll, and local program UAB. Of the 12 teams competing at the tournament, nine, including TCU, are ranked among the nation's top 25.

Senior Drew Laning led the Frogs on day one with a two-round total of 142 (E). He carded a 2-under 69 in the opening round, which was the lone under-par round by a TCU player. The Little Rock, Ark., native is tied for 16th place and is looking for his second consecutive top-20 finish.

True freshmen Jon McLean and Robby Ormand share 41st place with 4-over scores of 146. McLean had a pair of 73s, while Ormand followed up a 74 with a 72.

Sophomores Franklin Corpening (T-45th) and James Sacheck (55th) round out the Horned Frogs' playing roster. Corpening owns a 36-hole sum of 147 (+5), while Sacheck posted a plus-8 150.
