Corpening earns first team All-Mountain West Conference accolades

Franklin Corpening (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) was honored on Monday (Apr. 28) as the TCU senior was cited as a first team All-Mountain West Conference selection for the first time in his career. The Fort Worth, Texas, native appeared in all 11 tournaments for the Horned Frogs during the 2007-08 campaign where he notched a stroke average of 73.5 en route to posting three sub-70 rounds during his senior season. Corpening notched a pair of fourth-place finishes at both the MacDonald Cup and National Invitational Tournament - which were two tournaments that the Purple and White claimed the crown. Corpening recorded three top-10 showings this past season - including a ninth-place finish at the Braveheart Classic - en route to earning five total top-20 listings. This past weekend - Corpening helped the Frogs to their best-ever finish at the Mountain West Conference Championships as the Purple and White notched a second-place showing. The TCU senior finished 14th overall with a three-round score of 216 (70-71-75) - which was also his highest-finish during conference competition. The senior leader for the Frogs - Corpening has appeared in 39 tournaments where he has carded 110 total rounds during his tenure with the Purple and White. The TCU senior has recorded a career strokes average of 74.21 to go along with nine top-20 finishes - including his first career victory at the Memphis Intercollegiate during his junior campaign. The Frogs will be looking for their 19th consecutive NCAA Division I Central Regional Championship berth when the field is announced on Monday (May 5). TCU Athletic Media Relations
