Trio of Frogs Named to Conference USA All-Decade Men's Golf Team

FORT WORTH, Texas - Despite spending just four seasons as a member of Conference USA, the TCU men's golf team is well represented on the Conference USA All-Decade Team, which has been announced by the league office. Former Horned Frogs Adam Rubinson and Adam Meyer, along with current player David Schultz, each earned a place on the 10-person team.

Rubinson, a two-time All-American, earned honorable mention accolades in 2002 and third-team plaudits in 2003. Also a two-time first-team all-league performer, he was designated the 2003 Conference USA Player of the Year. The Fort Worth native was a national semifinalist for the Ben Hogan Award his senior season and was voted the 2002-03 TCU Co-Male Athlete of the Year. His career highlight was a runner-up finish at the 2002 NCAA Championships. In addition, Rubinson was a member of the U.S. Palmer Cup team and matched the best finish ever by a TCU golfer at the U.S. Amateur, reaching the round of 16 in 2003.

Meyer, who played two seasons for the Horned Frogs (2003, 2004), earned third-team All-American honors and led TCU to a 20th-place finish at the 2004 NCAA Championships. Last April, Meyer was named the Conference USA Player of the Year and also earned medalist honors by nine strokes at the C-USA Championships. The native of Waco was a two-time first-team C-USA selection and was the tourney runner-up in 2003. In addition, he was chosen as the 2003-04 TCU Co-Male Athlete of the Year.

Schultz, who is currently a senior, was an honorable mention All-American in 2003, his first season in Fort Worth. This week, he became just the third golfer in school history to be recognized as a three-time first-team all-league player. The Fargo, N.D. product has two individual tournament titles to his credit and posted two straight top-5 finishes at the C-USA Championships. He has ranked among the nation's top 80 golfers in each of the past three seasons.

The 10-person team included: Rubinson (TCU), Meyer (TCU), Schultz (TCU), Graeme McDowell (UAB), Chris Devlin (UAB), Chris Morris (Houston), Andy Sanders (Houston), Victor Schwamkrug (Houston), Tim Yelverton (Southern Miss) and Chris Wheeler (Tulane). McDowell earned Player of the Decade honors, while former Houston coach Mike Dirks grabbed Coach of the Decade acclaim.
