Men's Golf Tied For Ninth Heading Into Final Round of Waikoloa
Feb. 13, 2004 WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - The sixth-rated TCU men's golf team is in a tie for ninth place following two rounds of the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii. With a team score of 579 (+3) through 36 holes, the Horned Frogs are 16 strokes behind tournament-leader and fifth-ranked Georgia Tech (563), but just eight strokes out of fifth place in the 21-team event. Junior J.J. Killeen is tied for fifth place after posting his second consecutive under-par score (70). His card on day two was the best on the team by four strokes. Killeen has a five-under 139 through 36 holes and is seeking his second career top-10 finish and his first this season. Junior David Schultz logged a two-over 74 on the second day to slip into a tie for 29th place. Schultz owns a two-day score of 144, which is even-par. Senior Stephen Polanski landed a 75 in round two after a 71 on Wednesday. At 146 (+2), Polanski ranks among the top half of the 105 participants (T-48th). Sophomore Colby Beckstrom, who is currently rated third in the nation individually, is tied for 77th after his second consecutive score of 75. Beckstrom's two-day sum of 150 is plus-six. After shooting a three-over 75 on Thursday, senior Adam Meyer is tied for 84th at 152. Meyer was the individual champion at the event last season as the Horned Frogs took second place as a team.
