TCU men's golf finishes second at MWC Championships

The TCU men's golf program notched its best-ever finish at the Mountain West Conference Championships as the Horned Frogs finished second overall following the final round of action at the Tucson National Golf Resort in Tucson, Ariz. Colorado State came back from eight strokes back in the final round of action to claim the Mountain West Conference team title as the Rams notched a tournament-best score of 278 on the final 18 holes en route to an 850 total. The Frogs finished second with a tournament tally of 854 - including a score of 290 on the final day of action - while BYU (857), UNLV (859) and Utah (866) rounded out the top-five at the Mountain West Conference Championships. James Sacheck (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville H.S.) and Robby Ormand (Austin, Texas/James Bowie H.S.) were the top finishers for the Frogs at the Mountain West Conference Championships as the TCU duo notched an even-par score of 213 en route to finishing fifth overall. Sacheck tied for the top score for TCU on Saturday as the TCU junior notched a 71 while Ormand score of 73 on the final 18 holes. Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) finished 10th overall with a two-over-par score of 215 - including a 71 on the final 18 holes - while Franklin Corpening (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) tied for 14th overall with a score of 216. Jordan Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Arlington H.S.) tied for 29th overall in his first Mountain West Conference Championships as the TCU sophomore notched a score of 221 - including a 77 in the third round of action. The Frogs will be back in action at the NCAA Division I Central Regional Championships - which begins on May 15th.
