Schultz Claims Second Tournament Title; Frogs Finish Fourth

TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore David Schultz claimed medalist honors as the No. 7 TCU men's golf team placed fourth among 19 teams at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational. The Horned Frogs posted a three-round total of 836 (-28) at a record-setting scoring event. Arizona State set a tournament record with a 40-under 824. Schultz won his second tournament of the season after scorching the Karsten Course to the tune of a 15-under-par 201. His score was one shy of the record set by former TCU golfer Bret Guetz, who had with a 54-hole score of 200 last April. Schultz, ranked 32nd in the nation, previously won the season-opening Ridges Intercollegiate. He posted consecutive rounds of 68-66-67 to win the Thunderbird. Junior Adam Meyer (T-17th, 209) finished seven-under for his second straight top-20 finish. Senior Adam Rubinson tied for 24th with a 210 (-6). Freshman Colby Beckstrom shared 59th with a one-over-par 217, while J.J. Killeen tied for 89th (221). Next up for the Horned Frogs is the Conference USA Championships in Dade City, Fla, from April 19-21.
