Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - On a memorable Masters' Sunday, No. 10 TCU finished in fourth place among the 18-team field at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. The Horned Frogs recorded a six-over 294 in the final round to complete the 54-hole event with a score of 872 (+8). The Frogs finished 17 strokes behind host school and first-place Purdue (855). By netting a sixth-place tie, junior J.J. Killeen matched his career-best finish, which he achieved at the 2002 Prestige at PGA West. Killeen owned TCU's best score on Sunday, an even-par 72. For the tournament he carded a three-under 213. It was the third career-top 10 finish and second this season for the junior from Lubbock. Senior Adam Meyer locked up his ninth top-20 placement of the year and his seventh in the last eight tournaments by grabbing a share of 11th among the field's 90 golfers. Meyer was plus-one in the final round to finish with a 216 (E). David Schultz, a junior, was the third member of the TCU team to lock up a top-20 spot, placing tied for 14th. Schultz's 73 (+1) on the final day gave him a two-day 217 (+1). Sophomore Colby Beckstrom wound up with a share of 56th place at 228 (+12). Beckstrom (78) had his highest score of the tournament on Sunday. Meanwhile, senior Stephen Polanski moved up into a tie for 80th after a 76 on the final 18 holes. Polanski's three-round sum was 235 (+19). Next up for the Horned Frogs will be the Conference USA Championship, which will be held April 19-21 in Dade City, Fla.
