Frog Golfers Tie For Third at Cleveland Golf Classic

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - On Tuesday, the eighth-ranked TCU Horned Frogs finished in a tie for third among 17 teams at the Cleveland Golf Classic played at the North Ranch Country Club. The Horned Frogs' three-round score of 872 was 20-over-par, while Texas won the team event with a 847 (-5). TCU has now finished in the top three in four of their six events in the 2003-04 season.
Adam Meyer paced TCU by sharing ninth place. The senior from China Spring, Texas, recorded the Frogs' lone sub-70 round (67) of the event in Monday's opening round, then carded a pair of 74s to finish with a two-over score of 215. It was the 12th top 10 finish of Meyer's collegiate career and his third this season.
Fellow senior Stephen Polanski had a pair of one-over 72s in each of the first two rounds and posted a 75 in round three to total a 219 (+6). For the event, Polanski landed in a share of 26th place, matching the fourth-best finish of his TCU career.
Junior J.J. Killeen secured 31st place after a team-best round of 71 (E) on Tuesday. His three-round sum of 220 was seven-over-par. Killeen, who has played in all six tournaments, has now finished among the top 35 in each of those events.
Junior David Schultz and sophomore Colby Beckstrom shared 36th place with 54-hole scores of 222 (+9). Schultz had his best round of the tournament (72) in round three, while Beckstrom's best effort was a 72 on Monday.
Of the 17 teams, 10 were ranked among the top 25 in the most recent Precept Coaches' Poll. The ranked teams included: No. 2 UCLA, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 8 TCU, No. 10 Texas, No. 16 California, No. 19 Arkansas, No. 20 Washington, No. 21 BYU, No. 22 Southern California and No. 24 Illinois.
TCU is next in action at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas on March 15-16.
