Frogs finish ninth overall at UH Hilo Intercollegiate

The TCU men's golf program moved up a pair of spots to garner a ninth-place showing at the UH Hilo Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Village Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii, on Friday afternoon. Coming into the final 18 holes of competition, the Horned Frogs found themselves in 11th-place, but managed to fire a team tally of 280 en route to surpassing Colorado and UC Davis for a top-10 showing in their first tournament of the spring campaign. The Frogs finished with a tournament tally of 839 over the 54-hole competition - including a 284 in the first round followed by scores of 275 and 280 over the final 36 holes of action. James Sacheck (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville H.S.), Robby Ormand (Austin, Texas/James Bowie H.S.) and Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) all finished tied for 20th overall with a three-round score of 210 at the UH Hilo Intercollegiate. Sacheck posted three straight rounds of 70 in his first tournament of the season while Ormand followed up the Frogs' best round of 65 on Thursday en route to shooting a 72 over the final 18 holes of competition. Woolf remained consistent throughout the 54 holes of action with scores of 69, 71 and 70 at the Waikoloa Village Course. Franklin Corpening (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) finished one stroke back of his teammates with a three-round score of 211 - good enough for a 34th-place showing. The TCU captain notched a final round score of 70 after shooting a 72 and 69 during the first two days of competition.
Sophomore Jordan Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Arlington H.S.) concluded his first collegiate tournament with the Frogs tied for 57th overall as the TCU newcomer fired a 70 over the final 18 holes to finish with a total of 216 over the three-day event.
Stanford claimed the team title at the UH Hilo Intercollegiate with a score of 813 while Arizona State (816), USC (816), Georgia Tech (824) and Texas Tech (829) rounded out the top-five. The Frogs will be back in action at the Braveheart Classic hosted by UC Riverside at the Oak Valley Golf Club on March 3-4 in Riverside, Calif.
