Daniel Jennevret's 5-under-par 67 has the 16th-ranked Horned Frogs tied with No. 4 UCLA atop the leaderboard after Wednesday's opening round of the Amer Ari Invitational.
Jennevret recorded a team-high seven birdies, including his opening two holes, to take a one-stroke lead over eight golfers tied for second.
Fellow Horned Frog senior Eli Cole is among the pack behind Jennevret with a 68. Cole totaled six birdies.
Julien Brun and Pontus Gad are tied for 23rd with 1-under 71s. Brun, on the Ben Hogan Award Watch List, birdied three of his final six holes. Three of Gad's five birdies also came on the back nine.
