Brock Tabbed A Freshman All-American
Dec. 14, 2009
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- TCU linebacker Tanner Brock has received second-team Freshman All-America honors from Phil Steele's College Football Preview.
A true freshman who enrolled early at TCU and participated in spring drills, Brock topped all TCU rookies with 31 tackles. It was the most stops by a Horned Frog freshman since Jason Phillips recorded a team-high 71 in 2005.
Brock tops TCU with 13 special teams tackles. The Copperas Cove, Texas, native received national attention for his helmetless block on Jeremy Kerley's 71-yard punt return for a touchdown against SMU. After losing his helmet earlier in the play, Brock delivered a bone-crushing hit on a Mustang to spring Kerley loose for his score.
Brock totaled a season-best six tackles against UNLV and recorded at least four stops in four games, including his collegiate debut in the season-opening victory at Virginia. He had four tackles against Utah and three at BYU.
