TCU Helps DFW Earn No. 1 Sports City Ranking
Oct. 5, 2011
FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU is featured on the front cover of Sporting News for the role it played in Dallas/Fort Worth being recognized as the nation's No. 1 sports city.
The Horned Frogs' undefeated run to the 2011 Rose Bowl championship, the Dallas Mavericks winning the NBA title and the Texas Rangers reaching their first World Series earned the DFW Metroplex the top honor from Sporting News.
TCU mascot SuperFrog, holding a bouquet of roses, is included on the front cover along with Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban and Rangers' star Michael Young.
The Horned Frogs are the only team in the nation to be ranked in the season-ending top 10 of both the Associated Press and USA Today polls over the last three seasons. TCU's average ranking of 5.0 in the final polls over the last three years is No. 1 in the nation.
TCU joins Ohio State and Oregon as the only schools to appear in BCS games the last two seasons.
Since 2005, TCU's 69-13 (.841) record ranks second nationally.
